"When I was looking for a good school for my 4 year old, I wanted to know if the school could be something that I would feel it was an extension of the home…and if the educators could be the extension of the family! My other priorities were an enriched program, smaller teacher-student ratio, equal emphasis on academics, arts and physical education and a loving and caring environment where each child can thrive to be the best he or she can be. That's quite a demanding list I have to say! After one and a half years, being a proud parent of CAW, I can truly say that Counterpoint Academy West is all of the above and much more! I know this because we have never seen our daughter to be so eager to learn and to be so proud of her school when she represents the school for a trip or a performance. We look at her with utmost pleasure and realize every day when she comes home from school that she is a bit more enlightened and intellectually grown-up. "Our son thoroughly enjoyed his time at Counterpoint Academy West Preschool. He hadn't been part of a structured daycare before, so at 3 1/2 years old, he had a steep learning curve! His teachers and the rest of the staff at Counterpoint were absolutely wonderful. They are all so caring, yet fun, and our little guy thought they were the best. When he started school he hardly knew any French at all, but now he can sing all the days of the week and count to 10. I wouldn't hesitate at all to recommend Counterpoint Academy." J.F.

 

"Our son began Preschool at Counterpoint Academy West when he was just 22 months old.  We hadn’t been planning to send him to a Private School, however, when we went to the information session one evening and learned about the curriculum and values of the school, we recognized immediately that this is where we wanted our son to spend his learning years.

CAW has drawn him out and helped him to excel in so many ways. He is given clear expectations by his teachers, expectations that his teachers know he can meet. This raises his confidence and causes him to challenge himself a little more, question and teach himself a little more, to see how far he can get on his own.

 CAW’s  academically focused curriculum  has ensured that he has very strong skills in all the basics – and those skills have been acquired in a very fun, loving way, with games, songs, playing and interactive learning.

Another item to throw on the list of things we are thrilled about with CAW is their ‘innings and outtings’ initiatives. Our son has experienced such a huge variety of activities thought the school – Dragon dancers, sitar players, a visiting alpaca, museums, galleries, farms, an on and on. This is a huge benefit for a working parent who sometimes worries that otherwise I wouldn’t be able to expose my child to such a variety of cultural and artistic experiences.

Finally, we are thrilled with the behavioural expectations that CAW has for their children. Our son has learned to express his feelings in a very socially appropriate manner, and some of the behaviour issues that are common in younger children really haven’t been an issue at all for us.

I can go on and on about Counterpoint Academy West, but the final point I wish to make is that everything is done, all the teaching and correcting and learning and encouragement is done in such a loving, caring and gentle environment, there has never been a moment when I had a concern about our son being in their care all day."
