Ottawa and Kanata Neighbourhoods

Counterpoint Academy families and students are a close-knit community of learners. Families commute to our schools from their homes. Carpooling is encouraged, and facilitated when possible. Both Ottawa and Kanata locations are within easy access of the 417 (Queensway) for easy access.  Families for both of our private elementary schools (junior kindergarten to grade six) and preschools (day cares) live in the following Ottawa and Kanata neighbourhoods:

Counterpoint Academy students come from many areas of Ottawa. We are centrally located in Ottawa at a major exit (Vanier Parkway/Riverside Drive) in Ottawa off the 417 (Queensway).  Many families drop off and pick up their children from our school en route to or from their jobs located downtown (e.g. British High Commission, American Embassy, Department of Defense, and many other Government of Canada buildings). We are located across the parkway from the RCMP headquarters on Vanier Parkway.
 
We are an academy located conveniently for families accessing St. Laurent Boulevard. Counterpoint Academy students and families access the St. Laurent community centre (recreation complex and pool) for swimming lessons, skating lessons, trips to the library, etc...
 
For families living in the East end, we are a very accessible for drop-off and pick-up, as you pass by the exit before travelling to South Ottawa, or West of downtown. Approximately 30% of our families travel in from the East end of Ottawa (including Orleans). 
 
Many of our families work in the health care sector, working in the buildings and hospitals in nearby Alta Vista (e.g. Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario - CHEO, The Ottawa Hospital (General), and many clinics) as we are a mere 5 minutes away.  
 
Families from Manotick, Barrhaven, Stonebridge and Riverside South choose our school as they can drive straight up Riverside Drive to our school. 
                                                                                          
Rockcliffe Park is approximately 7 minutes away. Rothwell Heights is also a popular neighborhood for our families as the National Research Centre (NRC) is located there. It is about a 10 minute drive from there.

We are located in the residential neighbourhood of Katimavik within Kanata, less than five minutes from the Kanata Leisure Centre and Wave Pool, and the Highway 417 (Queensway).  The closest intersection is Katimavik and Eagleson Road.  Eagleson and March Road – is the first major exit to Kanata from Ottawa on Highway 417. 

Most of our families come from Kanata, including the following neighborhoods:

  • North Kanata (North of Highway 417): Morgan’s Grant, Kanata Lakes, Beaverbrook
  • South Kanata (South of Highway 417): Katimavik, Glen Cairn, Bridlewood

We have an increasing number of families that live in Stittsville (West of Kanata, near the Scotiabank Place (Home of the Ottawa Senators).

We also have many families who live within Ottawa and Nepean.  Many children whose parents work nearby in the Kanata high tech community find Counterpoint Academy West a convenient location for their children to attend preschool and private school near their workplace.
